Personal Decan Talisman

March 12, 2021 Thelemic Showcase

Instructions:  Take the Tarot pip which corresponds to your astrological decan of your natal chart.  Then locate all of the 7 other ruling cards.  Take those 8 cards and lay them out on the table before you.  From those 8 cards, create a talisman.

Talisman:  Use the sigil of Mercury, as the three-fold-division-of-man, as a template.

  • Between the horns, place the planetary sigil of the sephira (sephiroth is plural of sephira) of the number of the pip card.  Can use the sigil of Neptune for Chokhmah, and the sigil of Earth for the 10’s (a plus sign enclosed in a circle).
  • Inside the circle, place the sigils of the planet and zodiac which rule the pip.  This represents 3 cards, the pip, the Atu of the Zodiac, and the Atu of the Planet.
  • With the cross, place the sub-element tattvas in the places corresponding to the pentagram with the exception that spirit is placed in the middle.  Use the inner tattvas to determine placement.
  • With the cross, shade-in the quadrant which corresponds to the element of the pip.

Talisman Example:  Middle Decan of Cancer:  Pip=3 of Cups

  • Between the horns lies the sigil of Saturn
  • Inside the circle lies the sigils of Mercury and the zodiac of Cancer
  • In the bottom left quadrant of the cross lies the tattvas of the Square within the Triangle
  • In the top right quadrant of the cross lies the tattvas of the Crescent within the Crescent
  • At the intersection of the cross lies the tattvas of the Egg within the Triangle
  • The top right quadrant of the cross is shaded

Tips:

  • For the Tattvas, use the flashing colors.
  • To locate the Princess, use the Golden Dawn book where it says ‘Throne of the Ace’; located near the back of the book.  In the example above, we are using the Ace of the same element as the Princess.  Page 597, chapter Tree of Life in a Sphere, section ‘Star Groups’.  Note: The other court card might be of the same or different suit (Queen, King, or Prince).
  • For the configuration of the elements of the pentagram use Liber ABA, appendix 5, Qabalah, page 561.
