Pathworking on the Tree of Life

Pathworking on the Tree of Life – 10/3/2020

The Pathworking is loosely based on “A Garden of Pomegranates” text above (a good book for your personal library), using the correspondences found in Liber 777 (link above).   This exercise was first performed with the local group the evening of 10/2/2020 as the Thelemic Showcase hour during the Friday Night Series.   The group performed a pathworking of Malkuth and afterwards, desired to continue the pathworking of the sephiroth as a group, but to have members be able to do pathworkings of the 22 paths on their own.

Pathworking

Either someone from the group can facilitate the pathworking for a group working, or, if you are by yourself, you can choose to facilitate the pathworking for yourself alone.

Pathworking of 10/2/2020:

Do what thou wilt is the whole of the law.

You find yourself before a large door upon which hangs a tapestry of black rayed with yellow.  The hebrew letter Mem is upon the tapestry.  You look down at yourself and notice what you are wearing.  Street clothes?  Robes?  Are you, you or are you someone else? (Godform or animal, etc?)  And if you are carrying anything.  Before entering, you look about you to get a sense of where you are and your surroundings, the time of year, the time of day or night, the smells, the taste of the air, the sounds, the coolness or warmth of the air or breeze, the weather.  You also notice what this door is attached to, if anything.  Remember this place, for it is your own personal entryway into the tree of life in your imagination.  You can locate this place while awake, or in dreams.

Perform the sign of the enterer to the letter Mem, and the door opens on its own, allowing entry.  Once inside, perform the sign of silence and the door will close on its own.  This is how we will traverse doors from now on.

You turn and notice that the back of the door which you just entered has a cross on it, separating into four quadrants of citrine, russet, olive, and black.  You also notice the smell of Dittany of Crete.

You enter a room which is in the shape of a decagon (10 sided) with a large rock crystal altar in the center.  The top of the altar is smooth.  As you approach the altar, you see three objects and four tarot cards.  The three objects are all the size of your hand: a black wooden equal armed cross, a triangle, and a circle.  The tarot cards are Oppression (Saturn-Terebellum, the back of the centaur which carries the heavy load), Perfected Success (Mars-Al Risha, the knot of the cord), Ruin (Sun-Pollux the twin), and Wealth (Mercury-Volantis).

A figure softly approaches.  The figure introduces itself as the Archangel Sandalphon, and tells you that they will act as your guide while you are in Malkuth.  Sandalphon shows you how to use the magic circle for your journey. (The facilitator describes how to use the magic circle) Sandalphon further explains the correspondences of Malkuth.  (This is where the facilitator describes the items listed in ‘Explication’ above in a cursory and minimalistic way).   Sandalphon briefly describes the mountains to the north, the waters to the west, the flatlands to the east and the desert to the south, and the elemental creatures which belong to each. (The facilitator describes all of this, very briefly)  Sandalphon hands you a satchel and encouraging you to place the objects from the altar into your satchel, so that you have them for your journey ahead.

When ready, you place both hands upon the smooth surface of the altar and say “reveal” and the walls of the room become translucent, with translucent doors appearing in the four cardinal directions.  These translucent doors each have a cross upon them with colors of citrine, russet, olive, and black.  You look to see what is there to see in all of the directions around you.  Sandalphon shows you that the altar itself lowers itself to the floor, allowing you to step upon it.  If you choose to do so, it can take you up or down.  It is also activated with the signs of the enterer and the sign of silence.

Sandalphon reminds you that when you step to the other side of any of the doors (or travel up or down), to repeat the divine name Adonai Ha Aretz until a guide appears for the next leg of your journey.

At this point you choose a direction, and go.  As you reach the other side of the doorway, you notice that the back side of it is a solid yellow.  Remember to look for this door when you embark upon your return journey.

This is the part of the pathworking which goes into a silent meditation, where each individual explores the realm of Malkuth in the direction they have chosen.  The individual or the facilitator may choose to set a timer for the duration.  When the time is up, the individual or facilitator continues as follows.

It is time to return to the decahedron room.  You turn and look for the yellow door.  Once you see it, you walk towards it.  You do the sign of the enterer to go through the door, followed by the sign of silence once you are on the other side.  After you do this, open your eyes and we will then continue with the remainder of the guided meditation.

After the facilitator sees everyone has opened their eyes, the facilitator continues.

The room has returned to its original form and is no longer translucent.  Sandalphon greets you and takes you to the rock crystal altar, where you return the objects which you had borrowed.  There is a hook on the wall where you hang your satchel.  Sandalphon reminds you that these objects will be there again when you choose to return.   When you are ready, you walk towards the outer door which is marked by a cross defining quadrants of citrine, russet, olive, and black.  You do the sign of the enterer and the door opens.  You cross the threshold and when on the other side, you perform the sign of silence and the door quietly closes.  You find yourself where you were at the start of your journey.  Look about you and remember this place so that you can return to it at will.

Love is the law, love under will.
